OBOLON — is the largest beverage producer in Ukraine
The company’s main brewery was built in 1980 according to designs made by Czech engineers, near an artesian well in Kyiv’s Obolon district. Initially called Kyiv brewery #3, it acquired the name “Obolon” in 1986. In 1992, Obolon became the first privatized company in independent Ukraine and registered its corporate brand Obolon.
Water is known to be the main component influencing the taste of beer. The place they chose was Obolon, one of Kiev regions, which is situated on Dnieper riverbank. The word Obolon comes from the times of Kiev Rus, when it meant low river meadows. And it was the name that brewery later chose for itself. The brewery was built from Czech design and started to produce beer that gained popularity yet in Soviet times. In independent Ukraine Obolon was the first company that started to export its products to Europe and the USA. Beer under trademark Obolon started to be recognized as traditional Ukrainian beer.

Obolon Extra is a lager beer with a harmony of bitter and light taste. The singularity of the recipe of this light beer lies in the fact that besides traditional ingredients such as barley malt, hops and water Obolon Strong contains maltose syrup. This gives the beer a pleasant light taste, sufficient alcohol content and lower carbohydrate content at the same time. It has a nice light flavor, and sufficient strength.

Obolon Wheat Ale follows the standard recipe, but the result is a more rustic beer, like a spiced season. Tangy, light, and very refreshing, it has a strongly spiced layer, but doesn’t cloy. The spices and yeast conspire that veers into zesty rather than sweet.

Obolon Velvet is a dark beer with the sweetish flavor, full of pleasant aroma and taste of caramel malt. Made from rough, smoky malt it created rounded and sweet flavor. The dark malts come across more as chocolate and caramel. A good combination of caramel and roast that gives the beer depth and complexity.

Obolon Magnat Premium light beer. Water from the Jurassic and Cenomanian horizons. First-class hops from Holland, malt grown in special conditions at the enterprise. Yeast crops are delivered from Germany, before getting to the consumer, the intoxicating drink ripens in separate containers within 22 days.
