Goldstar is a red lager beer with a unique flavor and aroma and 4.9% alcohol.
The beer is made according to a recipe that is more than 60 years old, from a mixture of both light roasted and dark roasted malt, in a traditional process that gives it its deep flavor.
In recent years Goldstar has become synonymous with the ‘authentic’ Israeli: the rough, witty, self-conscious (well, partially self-conscious) man or the woman who knows what’s what. In its early days, Goldstar was sold as “Nesher Gold Star” beer, with the now iconic symbol of “Nesher” beer on its label. Goldstar was the first beer in Israel to be sold in barrels and was first served at the legendary pub “Ha’Mozeg” (the Bartender) in Tel Aviv’s old central bus station.
You cannot talk about Goldstar without mentioning its history of extraordinary ad campaigns. Paul Newman enjoyed a cold one in a Goldstar ad from 1961. Before he became a publicist and politician, Yair Lapid appeared in a Goldstar ad designed as a tribute to the film ‘Top Gun’. Moshe Datz, Sharon Regiano and even international model Claudia Schiffer are some of the public figures that have been associated with the brand.
